Almost 70% of the prescription and OTC (Over The Counter) medicines that are being used for many diseases' treatment is derived from plants and natural sources. All the above are break through drugs. There was no effective Psychiatric treatment before Resperpine, there was no malarial treatment before Quinone. For heart diseases Digitaliswas the first effective drug. Asprin was the first ever pain killer medicine. There was no effective medicine for asthma before ephedrine.
