Understanding
Asthma
Asthma is triggered by inhaling allergens
such as dust mites, pet dander, pollens, mold, etc. In 95% of cases asthma
is triggered by air borne allergens and rest from food allergens. Through
a complex reaction, these allergens then cause the passages in the airways
of the lungs to become inflamed and swollen. This results in coughing,
wheezing and other asthma symptoms.
IgE- Immunoglobulin E , the
cause of allergic asthma:
Allergens are identified as a key
cause of allergic asthma. But the real culprit in causing allergic asthma
is the IgE antibody. The IgE antibody is produced by the body in response
to allergen exposure. The combination of the IgE antibody with allergens
results in the release of potent chemicals called mediators. The mediators
cause the inflammation and swelling of the airways, resulting in the symptoms
of asthma. This makes the antibody IgE the root cause of allergic asthma.

How the herbs work :
Asthma as we know is an allergic inflammation
of the lungs, which can be triggered by air pollutants, pollens, molds,
dust, animal dander, chemicals, or foods, exercise, temperature changes
etc.
These triggers produce allergens,
which are then absorbed into the bloodstream causing the B cells or white
blood cells to produce billions of molecules of the antibody IgE. These
IgE molecules in the bloodstream then combine with the mast cells, which
line the blood vessels or basophils, a type of white blood cell. Mast cells
and basophils both contain histamine and serotonin, and the antibody IgE
causes the mast cells and basophils to leak the histamine and serotonin
into the blood stream. This, in turn, produces the symptoms of allergies
and asthma - the itchy, runny nose and eyes, blocked sinuses and the coughing
and wheezing we are all too familiar with. The herbs act to support the
mast cells and basophils, stabilizing the cell walls, preventing them from
spilling histamine and serotonin into the bloodstream.
Patients with asthma had significantly
higher cysteinyl leukotriene in their blood. They are a type of
fatty acids formed by the combination or action of two enzymes, phospholipase
A2 and lipxygenase. This herbal formulation also acts as a powerful inhibitor
of these two enzymes
